Thinking back (it's been 5 or 6 years so I don't fully remember the steps in my decision), that might have been one of the original reasons I put Create in the list at all - besides the trenchcoat brigade I can't think of a character whose main gimmick is "the permanent creation of matter", it's sort of a catch-all, in the same way that I classify many ranged abilities (telekinesis, illusions and the like) as Zap even if they aren't strictly-speaking a laser beam or lightning bolt.

There were two reasons I veered from an Occultism category originally; one, arcane superpowers aren't to my personal taste (the Bayport setting has no gods, no aliens and no wizards, though it has people who might think they're one of those things); and two, I had enough trouble classifying levels of Think and Perceive (what does it feel like to have 2 points in Think and be, definitionally, smarter than the smartest human being? What makes one power a 1-point Perceive and another a 2-point?), and I didn't want to worry about classifying Occult powers as well. Were I to add them I'd probably make them like the miscellaneous powers (i.e. not on a point scale) and say all Occult powers can be mimicked by other Occultists, maybe have its own stat, and add a little minigame for wizard supermen to play around in on their downtime.

Thank you for your comment. Especially classic Strange, when he was the most absurdly op guy ever. I figure he'd have decent enough physical stats, pretty good stats in stuff like create, fly, etc, and then ב in weird, ace, and probably zap. Or just ב in occultism if you decide to use that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732712959114181705.post-30655141442169532662021-05-18T04:00:05.800-04:002021-05-18T04:00:05.800-04:00love it, thank youlove it, thank youvayrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03350837982188931836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732712959114181705.post-15435662245313602642021-05-16T20:58:44.893-04:002021-05-16T20:58:44.893-04:00Naturellement, a "money" power would mak...Naturellement, a "money" power would make sense as well.

As for the second point, certainly. What I haven't explicitly written out (but what should be fairly obvious) is that these powers are less carefully-chosen-from-the-splatbook and more carefully-argued-for-from-the-DM. As your character develops, you can get new powers if it seems cool for you to develop new powers. G. R. Each rank of Money multiplies that by 10 (?)

When you level up, can you spend points on powers outside your original category?Spwackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07247063374457045751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732712959114181705.post-58924936008438561772021-05-15T16:21:01.619-04:002021-05-15T16:21:01.619-04:00Grim Reaper, two-sigma. Possesses a magic "Roman Short Sword" (medium, +1) he got from a wizard in a cave.
Brawn-1, 18 Strength, may throw medium/heavy weapons as if they were light.
Martial-1, 15 Dexterity and Constitution, proficiency with bladed weapons, +1d6 sneak attack on targets fighting an adjacent enemy or who aren't expecting it.
Fly, may change his personal "down" with a moment of thought. Immune to fall damage in the direction his gravity is pointing.
Weird, Grim Reaper can meditate for sixty seconds to teleport to the position of his sword. When he arrives, he may immediately make an attack against an adjacent enemy (who is presumably surprised by this).G. R.
